John Sigler is a certified English lecturer/instructor, language consultant and freelance writer originally based in Denver, Colorado. Since September 2008 he has been living, working, and traveling around Europe, particularly in Ireland, Italy, and Romania. His long-term goal is legal permanent resettlement with gainful employment within the European Union, but in the meantime he is enjoying traveling the world, experiencing different cultures and societies and exploring his options.
As discussed in detail on the teaching and consultancy pages, John Sigler holds a properly recognized and accredited International Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Diploma. Due to years of employment in the corporate world working in compliance and legal analysis (for employment history, see the bottom of the Affiliations page), he would prefer to teach more advanced specialized English, such as financial or legal English; but is able and willing to teach lower level general English as well.
The consultancy aspect of John Sigler's activity has been more informal, with clients generally setting a specific aim or goal and the pricing for these services being set appropriately. These services include, but are not limited to: proof reading and/or editing English-language documents (proposals, contracts, legal, &c.) and marketing materials (advertisements, brochures, web pages, &c.); helping individuals and groups on proper pronunciation; helping organizations identify and use the proper tone (professional, personal, polite, &c.) in their English-language materials; and planning for specific events (trips, conferences, exhibitions, &c.) that will involve a lot of English language content. These services are primarily directed toward individual professionals and/or executives and small- to medium-sized businesses that are entering English-language markets but do not have the means of hiring a full time language consultant. John Sigler has found this work to be the most enjoyable and financially rewarding, and while working as a freelance consultant currently, he would be very interested in getting a full time position providing these services to an established business or corporation.
As detailed in the Writing Section, John Sigler has been writing for a number of years now for various mediums, including newspapers, internet news sources, and blogs. His work is primarily non-fiction and specializes in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and in international humanitarian law. Beyond writing, John Sigler has served as editor of the now defunct journal Essays and Commentary on Contemporary Middle Eastern Affairs and as English-language editor the Arabic/English monthly Akher Khabar newspaper based in Denver, Colorado (U.S.) and Amman, Jordan.
